“Before I had Andrea as a mentor, I had a certification and barely an idea of what I was doing with it.  She didn’t just teach me the clinical stuff, she taught me how to trust my own judgment, set limits without guilt, and actually sustain a career in the ABA field without burning out in year one.

Because of her, I stepped into my role as a BCBA knowing I belonged there. Not performing confidence but actually having it.

If you’re a new BCBA trying to figure out how to navigate the BCBA workforce without losing yourself in the process, Andrea will help you get there.”

“I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Larmon when I was working as a BCBA in a regional school district, where she was my mentor as I transitioned into a new district and into secondary education for the first time. She was exactly the person I needed.

Dr. Larmon was consistently patient, taking the time to answer all of my many questions and provide thoughtful guidance. She supported me in managing my caseload and helped me navigate complex and often intense behavioral interventions within sub-separate programs. Beyond her highly respected expertise, Dr. Larmon brings a natural sense of humor and kindness that made the mentorship experience both engaging and enjoyable.

What I really appreciate most about Dr. Larmon is that her support didn’t end when the mentorship officially did. She continues to be a role model and someone I can always reach out to when I need to talk through a challenging case or have a quick BCBA question. She’s truly someone who is always dependable and always in your corner.”

What is the difference between a Coaching Model and a Treatment Model?

Coaching provides structure, guidance, tools, accountability, and a shared objective. Together, these elements support consistent progress and facilitate the translation of insights into action. Some examples of content that would be focused upon through a coaching model include:

* Teaching clients how to utilize reinforcement in their daily routines

* Providing coaching staff with strategies for classroom behavior management

* Guiding consistent strategy implementation

* Developing generalizable skills through education

* Mentoring staff on the skills required for effective classroom management, classroom environmental changes, meaningful inclusion, and transitioning from a clinic-based BCBA to a school-based BCBA

Treatment necessitates in-person data collection, observation, and instruction for client success. Some examples of content that would be focused upon through a treatment model include:

* Creating and supervising direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions

* Completing Functional Behavior Assessments

* Developing formal Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

* Treating clinical conditions utilizing the principles of ABA

How do you determine if a client requires direct behavioral treatment or a coaching program?

A few different factors determine this:

  1.   Does the client require direct ABA instruction, evaluation, or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) services?
  2.   Does the client require Behavioral Skills Training?
  3.   Does the client require short-term or long-term mentoring?
  4.   Does the client require in-person observation and student-specific feedback?
